I Know We Should Pray for Israel… What Else Can We Do?
As a follower of Jesus, do you ever feel helpless about how to effectively pray and support Israel? Gateway Center for Israel Executive Director, Nic Lesmeister, unpacks a seemingly basic yet biblical method that guarantees profound results.
A lot of us are watching what’s going on in Israel, and we’re wondering, as followers of Jesus, how can we help? What can we do? How can we support Israel? How can we support the Jewish people?
And we can definitely pray. We can pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We can pray for the Jewish people. We can pray for a quick and to this conflict, a minimization of the loss of life for both Palestinians and Israeli Jews. Yes. But one thing that we can definitely do is we can pray this, prayer that Jesus prayed in Matthew chapter six: Our Father who is up in heaven. Hallowed be your name? May your kingdom come, may your will be done. What are we doing? We’re praying for the purposes of God to advance in Israel. The reality is God’s kingdom is going to be set up in Israel in Jerusalem.
We want to pray for that day. We want that day to come. We’re joining with Yeshua Jesus to say, bring your kingdom on this earth. Because when the Messiah comes, when we believe Jesus comes back to establish His kingdom in Israel, in Jerusalem amongst his people, the Jewish people, there’s going to be justice. There’s going to be peace. There’s going to be love. There’s going to be harmony between all groups of people, Jews, and Gentiles. So that’s how you can pray. Pray the words of Jesus. Let your kingdom come, let your will be done in Israel, on Earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
