How to Engage Your Church With Israel
As a pastor, you may understand that Israel is important, but don’t know what to do next. Nic outlines three ways that you and your church can begin to biblically engage with Israel.
We’re often asked, where do you start as a pastor, as a church leader, in taking a step of engaging your church with Israel and the Jewish people, God’s heart for Israel? I want to give you three ways to start.
The first is to pray. Everything that happens in our lives that is long-lasting, starts with prayer. It starts with engaging God, engaging the Holy Spirit to get a heart and a burden for something. And so I want to encourage you to do that. The Bible says in Psalm 1:22, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” Just start to do that as God would lead you to make a priority for praying for the Jewish people, for their safety, for their well-being, that they would see Jesus is the loving Messiah that they’ve been waiting for.
Secondly, to learn. Take some time to begin to understand what does the Bible say about Israel and the Jewish people. We have so many resources that are available to help you and guide you along that path.
And lastly, act. Make a step of action. Every theological or heart-based motivation has to come out in an action, and so we want to encourage you to give, to support ministry to the Jewish people or to make a relationship with someone in the Messianic Jewish community or a Jewish leader in your city. But those are three quick ways that you can start this process of engaging God’s heart. For Israel: pray, learn, and act.
