If Paul didn’t convert, then why did he always get kicked out of cities by Jewish mobs or mobs incited by the Jews in the Book of Acts? Was he too Jewish for them? Too many things in this video don’t match the truth.

Hey, everybody. We wanted to do a video to respond to some of the comments that we’ve been getting in some of our other videos because we realized that some of the content that we create tends to be a little bit controversial in certain spaces. We get that. We’re not trying to be controversial. Honestly, we really legitimately trying to look at the Bible with fresh eyes and advance an understanding that keeps in sync with God’s covenant to Israel, but also his love for Gentiles. We’re going to ask some of these questions or read them, and then I’m going to try to do my best to answer them. So stick with us. It’s going to be fun.
If Paul didn’t convert, then why did he always get kicked out of cities by Jewish mobs or mobs incited by the Jews in the Book of Acts? Was he too Jewish for them? Too many things in this video don’t match the truth.
Too many things in this video don’t match the truth. So the question is, why did Paul get so opposed? Why was he so opposed by the Jewish people? He got kicked out of synagogues, they tried to stone him, all these other things. Well, I would ask the same question about Jesus. Why did Jesus get opposed? Why is Jesus still opposed today?
This isn’t a Jewish question, honestly. This is a question of I’m not going to go stand out on the streets in America and just think that everybody I tell about Jesus is going to say, yeah, great. I mean, this happens today. The message of Jesus and the message that God is trying to bring even through the particular people of Israel is to say, there is one path to me, one path, and it’s through this way. So Paul was coming to his own community and he was bringing a gospel that they didn’t like. They had already demonstrated that by basically saying, we don’t accept Jesus.
And the reason that it was so abrasive in a lot of these places is because Paul was upsetting the norm. He was coming in as a former Pharisee and saying, look, y’all, I did this this way. I tried doing it the way you’re doing it. And God met me on a road and blinded me and revealed himself to me and showed me there’s a different way to this. Jesus is the Messiah. And I think it’s in Matthew 16 where Jesus is in the synagogue in his hometown, and he gets up and reads, and basically it says in this text, they were deeply offended at him. So this is very common. I mean that people, I mean, think about it with our own families. We come to faith in Jesus. We go tell our family members that aren’t believers. They don’t want to hear from us, they don’t like it. So this is not a proof text. Just because Paul got kicked out of synagogues doesn’t mean that this is proof that Paul was still not a Jew or that he was now a Christian at all. This is just almost like a common sociodemographic – what’s the word – sociological phenomenon.
