The Replacement Model
Israel Masterclass: Session 2
When God said in His Word, "You are My special treasure" or "You are the apple of My eye," who was He speaking to - the Church or Israel? In this Israel Masterclass session, David Blease defines a widely-held (yet incorrect) theology rooted in 1700 years of Christian tradition: replacement theology, or the belief that the Church has replaced Israel in God's covenant promises.
The history of replacement theology, birthed and fueled by antisemitism, is examined, beginning with Constantine and the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Followed hundreds of years later by Martin Luther, this stance eventually and tragically led to the Holocaust. Yet, it can be found (knowingly or unknowingly) still lurking in today's Church theology. David describes how to identify this fallacy, why it remains dangerous, and the four negative consequences that will result from embracing this error as truth.
